EBA wants new safeguards for multi-issuer stablecoin schemes
The banking watchdog’s MiCA review priorities extend to classification, DeFi and crypto lending.
EBA’s recommendations
The European Banking Authority identified stronger treatment of multi-issuer stablecoin risks as a priority in its 24 September response to the MiCA review.
Beyond stablecoins
The regulator also wants clearer classification rules and policy responses for crypto lending and services associated with decentralised finance.
What comes next
The proposals inform the European Commission’s review but do not automatically change applicable law.
